![]() Please come forward.īefore (Spouse 1) and (Spouse 2) come forward to light their wedding candle, allow me to explain the symbolism behind these candles. I want to ask representatives of both families to light one of the candles. Officiant speaks: At this time we will have the lighting of the Unity candle. The Unity candle symbolizes the joining of their families, the merging of two individuals, the creation of a blended family, etc. Then the couple light the center candle from these two outside candles. It does not store any personal data.Just before the wedding vows, the parents of the couple come forward (or other family members, children etc.) and light a candle for each. Here are some hints and ideas to consider when lighting the unity candle…īBQ clickers (you know the long clickers that have a safety latch on it for children) should never, ever, ever, EVER be allowed in the church or outside ceremony site. Then the couple will use those tapers to light their large pillar candle together during the wedding ceremony. ![]() The mother’s will light each respective family’s taper candles before the ceremony: the bride’s family on the left and the groom’s family on the right. This entails usually have two taper candles and one large pillar candle in the middle. A tradition adapted into most wedding ceremonies is the lighting of the unity candle.
